Trend Alert: Athleisure

Happy Sunday Divas!

I have a confession; I'm not a big fad of fads and trends. If I like something, I'll grab it. If I don't, I walk past it. Typically I don't get into the latest styles, as they make for loads of unused items in your closet, made for purging. So, I usually find myself turning a blind eye, until I see something I know I can use in a bunch of different ways.

One such trend whose pieces  I know can be dressed up or down, is the althleisure trend sweeping the blogger nations.

For anyone sleeping under a rock, Athleisure is a trend in fashion in which clothing designed for workouts and other athletic activities is worn in other settings, such as at the workplace, at school, or at other casual or social occasions. This means that those Adidas sweatpants, or your favorite hoodie can actually be worn as a chic look to the latest holiday party! Fear not on what not to wear, as this trend puts the "purpose" in re-purposing your clothes.

I took a swing at the athleisure trend with this Gucci inspired leggings I scored from TNicole Boutique. Although workout inspired clothing is typically baggy and less form fitting, these leggings had an awesome stretch, perfect for doubling as yoga, or even running pants.

I paired it with this comfy sweater from Burlington Coat Factor and vibrant red heels, for an ensemble made in Chic and comfy heaven.

What's one of your favorite trends sweeping the blogosphere? Leave a comment or picture below! I love hearing from you!

OOTD: Meet me in Miami

Happy Monday folks! I hope you all had a blessed and productive weekend, doing all of the things you set your hearts out to do in 2017. Personally,I was continuing to live out my dreams in Miami, as I had the honor or representing all of the fabulous curvy/plus girls of Los Angeles in the Miss Fashion Week Universe competition. All of the beautiful contenders (runway, petite, plus, and international) convened in sunny Miami beach to compete for the reigning title as Queen for the year 2018. It was a whirlwind experience to say the least, and although I didn't win, my Quneedom reigns on for the year of 2018. Catch me in LA soon.

Along with the competition this weekend, were many photo opportunities. My sponsor and mangers had us in all of the right locations to slay!

My favorite photoshoot wardrobe item? These "Prissy Pants" I purchased from TNicoleBoutique. These were an awesome combination of business casual and comfort!

Ruffle Top:Similar

There was plenty to do in Miami. With all of the networking, meetings, and traveling, I needed to be cute, comfy, while meaning business. This red pair allowed for the chic vibe I needed, with an awesome stretch in the waist in addition to the gold buttons. The flared legs allowed for the breezy Miami air to vent through.

Paired with this Off-the-shoulder top from Ashley Stewart(currently sold out), I was ready to hit the streets of Miami, destined to make some connections.

OOTD: Girl On Fire

"Life starts all over again when the air is crisp..."

As the leaves start to change, I knew what it was time to do. Break out the reds, oranges, sweaters, and heavier coats. And although I'm not quite ready to use them, that doesn't mean I can't get you guys ready in some kind of way!

My prequel to the fall starts off with this convertible wrap dress I got from my sister in fashion over at Sassie Girl Fashion. I literally felt like a girl on fire! Just LOOK at all of those vibrant colors! I felt like a mix between Carmen in Hip-Hopera and Selena, ready to bust a reggaeton hit or two. As you can see it hugs ALL the right places *a plus girl's favorite thing), and the fabric is still breezy enough if the sun happens to come out (spoiler alert: no sun this day.)

Another bucket list item for a self-proclaimed fashionista? Being able to re-purpose an old outfit. This dress makes that super easy! Although I went with the run of the mill wrap, this dress can be work over 25 different ways! One sleeve, halter, backwards, without sleeves...the possibilities are amazing! It also gives lots of stretch, so it doesn't hug too tight.

This convertible dress is available in a number of prints, and can fit up to a size 16. Head over to Sassiegirlfashion.com for a look at this versatile number, as well as her other awesome pieces for the fall. Happy hunting!

Mixed Up in the Spring

Happy Spring everyone! It's been a while, and I figured I should re-surface during the season of growth! Along with my re-vamped blog site, I come gracing you with a new outfit of the day!

Today, I decided to mix prints like only I can. I was talking to a fellow fashionista the other day, and she asked me what were some of my go-to spring trends/fashions. My answer was simple; mixing prints, dramatic sleeves, and an ode to the 80's and 90's fashions that have quickly been resurfacing.

I did 2 of my 3 staples in this outfit, and I'll have to resist the urge to wear the outfit again and again.

This peep shoulder top is a couture find I scored from California. A funny story about this piece: I almost  regretted purchasing it. You see, I'm a bit of a thrifty shopper, and there a certain pieces I wouldn't dare spending so much money on. And one look at this top, and I thought I could find it somewhere cheaper. But the quality put into this is like no other! My plus size gals know what a struggle the arm area can be. This piece does not disappoint, with extra roomy arms, mostly due to the stretch elastic feature near the shoulders. The bell half-sleeve also provided some extra airiness, perfect for a warmer spring day.

The mixing part of my ensemble came easily with the horizontal stripes. A tip for you curvy girls who love stripes, the smaller the stripe, the better!

Moral of the story: Don't be afraid to mix it up a bit! Fashion is what you make it!

Casual Friday: July 22,2016

Happy Friday everyone! And a hot one it is. Today's 90 degree weather called for flowy fabrics and forgiving trapeze tees. My outfit consists of a unique designed maxi skirt from boohoo, an online shop that was originally based out of Manchester, U.K. They've built such a fanbase there that their US shop is just as cutting edge, for a fraction of the price. If you're ever looking for current and previous fashions. they have got you covered!

This maxi skirt features a button design down the middle of the skirt. Though the buttons are not functional, they're still an important part of the skirt by adding some life and pizazz to the flowy fabric. What I also like about the skirt is the high waist effect it has, cinching in my waist and accentuating my hips for a boho chic look on this hot and hazy Friday. Check boohoo.com out today and take a look at their collection of maxi skirts, maxi dresses, and other staple closet pieces for the summer. You won't be disappointed!

Blogger Chronicles: Memorial Day Weekend

Soooo,  Memorial Day has come and gone. And in the days that it's taken me to recuperate from a fun-filled weekend (at 25, I seriously cannot hang anymore), I've come up with an informal lookbook for my style choices while I was down in Hotlanta. There were some new pieces, as well as some well worn ones from the back of my closet. Either way, going from day-to-night was easy when everyone in the city was so fabulous. I didn't feel weird wearing a statement necklace or a pair of heels. It was all acceptable!

My first ensemble for the weekend was not your run-of-the-mill airport attire. I substituted the sweatpants and head scarf for something as equally comfortable in structure, but what left little to be desired in the style department. This asymmetrical skirt was similar in the ruched nature of this number I wore a couple weeks back. What I enjoyed most about it was its tye-dye color scheme, which screamed vacation. I was able to move through the hustle and bustle of airport terminals in comfort without compromising style.

I paired them with these bedazzled sandals from Lola Shoetique. These are a couple years old, but Lola, as I affectionately call them, always has loads of summer goodies. Check them out!

My night ensemble was a casual maxi dress outfit. I purchased this maxi dress from Forever 21+ about 3 years ago, and I haven't stopped wearing it since! As you guys can tell, I'm not a fan of wearing things just once or twice, and this was no different. The newest piece in this ensemble was this statement necklace I got form Charlotte Russe. I was able to get it within their typical 2 for $10 jewelry sale. You'll see the other item I purchased later.

Onward to Saturday! After recuperating from the first night in ATL, I was hesitant to wear anything about no inches off the ground, but I did it anyway. Besides, a wedge is pretty easy and sturdy wear. These corkscrew wedges were a gift, purchased form JustFab.com, a concierge service that matches up your favorite styles for a monthly suggestion box where you can purchase the latest fashions for really low prices. These bermuda shorts are from Rainbow sometime back. The light denim wash complimented the bright orange perfectly for a nice spring/summer ensemble. The two were then paired with this statement piece, also from Forever 21.

My last night in town,I decided to be a bit less conservative than I normally am, while still maintaining some class in my club outfit. This scuba texture assymetircal mini dress is from Forever 21+. I've only worn in once, and it fit even better the 2nd time. The blank black canvas allowed for a lot of nice gold accents, including this chunky bangle I also got from Charlottee Russe. This lightweight sheer cardigan from Hautelife plus helped me to tone down t conserve the curve, while I still showed some leg. It was my perfect blend of sexy and safe!
My weekend in Atlanta was one that allowed me to dust off some old items in my closet and put some things together that my normal environment may not allow. That's what vacation is for right?!

Embrace the Curve: Maxi Dress Season

The maxi dress has been the cornerstone/premiere item of the spring/summer season for years. Women love it because its simplicity in outfit planning as well as the reduction of putting various pieces together. Men love them because they hit all of the right spots, emphasizing the fine creation that is the female. Maxi dresses have stood the test of time and now emerge in various lengths, sizes, shapes, and colors. Today's outfit was centered around this beige maxi dress I scored during a women's fellowship event at my church in Bushkill, PA. Once a year, we clean out our closets and bring them in for our sisters to peruse and "swap" out for the treasures we find in their closets. I think its a fantastic idea, and I haven't been disappointed yet.

This dress was great for my spring maxi dress season, as the material wasn't as light and flowing as a summer maxi. I almost steered clear of this dress because of how close it was to my skin tone, but then I decided to go for it, and wasn't disappointed. So many of my fashion mentors have told me to always try things on, because you just never know.

I really enjoy the dress due to the ruched/gathered detailing in the front. It created a nice bust line along with this chunky gold necklace.

Similar shoes here
I paired the dress with my moccasin heels from eBay. These heels and other fringe/moccasin details have become all the rage the past few seasons, as outlined in this post.
Put together, the ensemble gave off this Glamazon boho look that didn't disappoint.

OOTD: Detailed Skirts

Good evening all! As the warmer weather approaches, I've pulled out some of my favorite skirts from the past few years. I'm not much of a dress wearer (unless in special occasions), but skirts allow me to dress up or down, while still bringing a feminine allure to any outfit. This particular skirt is from a few years ago at Forever 21+. It features some tribal yellow print details, and some slits on each side that reach up to the thigh area. The skirt features an elastic waist, which makes tucking a shirt in really easy and seamless. I paired it with my distressed jeans jacket, also Forever 21+. My fringed purse is from H&M, and I finished it off with my chunky heel from Charlotte Russe for an ultimate boho chic Sunday look.

You'll be seeing plenty of skirts from me in the weeks to come. Let me know what your preference is. Long? Shirt? Mini? Maxi? I love hearing from you!

Casual Friday: Feminine Camo

Similar jeans here and here.
I know...I know you read that title and thought "That was the biggest contradiction ever." But bear with me! Because since starting up this blog, I have learned that visions in your mind can ALWAYS be done in fashion. There is no idea too whimsical or a combination too out there...make it happen. And that I did. Today's outfit is centered around this camo jacket I got from Rose Gal, another online marketplace that specializes in reduced prices of the latest trends and pieces. I set my eyes on this jacket for a number of reasons. 1. It's a light-to-midweight jacket perfect for the spring rains and winds 2. The camo design is truly one of a kind. That might be reasons 1-5,but you ge my drift. The flowers within the camo design add a feminine touch to the casual outfit, without having to add heels. I was running errands and this woman said "I love camo. That's pretty much all that's in my closet, but I've never seen anything like that. It's girly." Thank you ma'am. That's exactly what I was going for. If you haven't figured this out about me by now, whether I am in sweatpants or stilettos, many things with me have to be comfortable and have a feminine air about it. This jacket achieved both!.Check out my Polyvore page for some outfit inspiration on this piece.

My layered chain leckace is from Wish.com. After some concentrated minutes of de-tangling and fixing, I was able to wear this necklace to add an even softer look to the military and camouflage colors.

My boots are from one of my favorite small business owners who I did a spotlight on a few months back. These boots made it possible to head back into the grass for a different backdrop than  what you guys are used to. The gold toe is still my favorite feature. Who doesn't love a gold toe boot?! These cost me about $50. They're super stretchy and they have a zipper on the side that makes it easy access. The shoelaces in the front are practicallyfor show!

OOTD: Transitioning into Spring

What a beautiful week it's been! It early March and we're already moving into gorgeous weather. Here in the Poconos, it was a cool and calm 65-70 degrees all week long! Still, we still got some pretty cool mornings, and windy rainy days. With the freezing rain turning into cool winds, today's outfit inspo was centered around transitional wardrobe staples, i.e the ones you can wear when the warm day doesn't turn out to be as warm as you were hoping. This is usually the time of year when we're stumped on what to wear. Let me help!

First up we have this mock denim top that I got from JCPenney's. While the sleeves are long and the shirt reaches me past my waist. the material is light, and the light "faux denim" look makes me think of spring. I also have a shirt similar to this in a darker denim wash. Both tops were $19.99.

Don't be fooled down at the bottom. This "pencil skirt" is actually a dress I owned, repurposed for the transitioning occasion. It features an additional lining underneath the dress, which makes the cool winds today more bearable.

My shoes are a couple season old from Lola Shoetique. These shoes are cupser comfy, and I love the embellished strap around the ankle. The shoe also features some different color combinations, as shown with the camel and black, which bring the outfit together as well as keeping it from being too boring or monotone.

I finished off the look with a camel hobo bag that I got from Rainbow a few years back. The color and free form back help to create a casual Sunday look that was both comfortable and weather apporpriate.

Casual Friday: Denim Layers

Today was definitely a day where I needed more than one layer of protection from the wind. I don't usually layer. It makes me feel bulky and like I have on too much clothing. But I found the trick to doing so is making sure that your layers aren't all so thick. Layering works well with light to mid weight materials, both of which I have here

I got this denim top from JCPenney's. It has a slightly distressed color on the sides. It's pretty lightweight, and isn't actually a jean denim top,but still does the trick

These jeans are from Forever 21+ and they're my favorite pair of jeans from them thus far. They're very stretchy and have some red/orange undertones. I had him mixing denim colors because...why not?

This open cardigan was a thrift find for about $4. It's from Hanes and the sweater/cotton material definitely protected me from today's harsh winds.

My boots are from an online catalog/shop named Alloy. They typically sell tween/in-between clothing items, but every once in a while I'm able to find something that fits just right.

OOTD:Pretty In Pink

Today's outfit was an ode to Valentine's Day and one of my favorite
80's
chick flicks:Pretty in Pink. Pink is one of my favorite colors for various reasons:it's soft doting nature that instantly adds a bit of femininity to everything. It adds a Cinderella princess delicacy that my girl Molly Ringwald achieved in her outfits. No matter how you really feel  ,pink will have you looking your prettiest.

I accompanied  the outfit with this unique blazer I got from Rainbow. It's has a nice lace detail that's better suited for soft colors to compliment the fact the the entire back is see through.

I got this pink peplum top from Forever 21+,along with this necklace. It's actually my first time wearing it. On closer view ,the gems are more of a purple/pink color. But with the light pink peplum top,I was able to pull off a great coordination! Thank God for hues on top of hues!
These pink pumps are from a very unlikely place:Victoria's secret. I've featured some of their clothing before. I also have these pumps in neon yellow. It's a soft suede and very easy to scuff, which is why I had to wait until there was no snow around.

What colors make you feel pretty? Leave a comment below! I love hearing from you.
