OOTD: Motherland Glam

Happy Tuesday divas!

I'm coming to you today with an outfit full of rich culture, stories, and fabulosity!

For those of you who don't know, I'm getting married in December to the love of my life. I won't gush about him here, but one thing I will say is that in our 6 amazing years together, I've come to love and appreciate my Jamaican roots for everything that they are;mine.

My fiancée is from Ghana, West Africa, and there's never a time when he won't tell you all about his life there. As terrified as I am of long plane rides, the stories about the rich environment and culture has me yearning to visit there. For now, I settle with all of the amazing pieces of his home that he and his family are so gracious to share. I mean everything from wooden chairs and cups, intricately cut and carved by someone's own two hands, all the way down to the gorgeously woven garments that I can never get enough of.

I wore a beautiful hand-crafted shirt, (called a Kaba top in Ghana) this past Sunday. It's one of the many I have (graciously gifted by my future mother-in-law), and definitely one of my favorites. The blue resembled a bit of a denim, helping me add my modern twist to it with denim accessories and these faux marble drop earrings. The sleeves were perfect for the weather, with some ruched/ruffled detailing at the ends. The sleeves weren't too tight on the arms either, another plus.

I paired the top with these open slit denim pants from Ashley Stewart (currently SOLD OUT), which are a gem in themselves. I adore these pants for their twist on the standard jeans, but they still remain true to the denim feel with their stretchy material.

Where's your family from? Are there any pieces of home that you love and cherish? Drop a picture, comment, or quip below.I love hearing from you!

Model Monday:Floral Tropical Goddess

Happy Monday divas and fashionistas! Here's to a prosperous and productive week ahead. For now, I'm flashing back to Sunday with these floral pieces I scored from my favorite on-a-budget safe place, Rainbow Shops.

Although it was a colder day out, this ensemble kept me nice and warm , especially with the warm red hue of these pants! The accordion ruffle waist and side tie added some flare to it, along with the dainty floral design. I added another layer of femininity to the ensemble with this high neck, open lace top. How cute!

And can we also stop for a moment and take a look at these amazing earrings! Talk about a statement! These textured discs were lighter than I thought they would be, and I really felt like an African princess. Sunday....CONQUERED!

OOTD: Resurrection Sunday

Happy Sunday my loves! I pray your Easter Sunday thus far has been relaxing and full of family fun.

I come to you by way of Burlington Coat Factory, who held me down from head to toe today.

Up first is this floral maxi dress.Though spring HAS sprung, the warm weather hasn't quite broken yet,and this beautiful gown helped me stay warm and stylish in my Sunday's best. With these amazing bell sleeves, they were a plus-friendly piece from Heaven, not squeezing or constricting my arms. The cinched waist was also nice and stretchy, in addition to the make-shift tie on the side. I was comfy AND cute!

These shoes were in Burlington's unparalleled discount shoe section. They feature a nice suede material, with extra long ties that can go a few inches up the leg.Almost like a spring gladiator heels. The block heels and zip at the back of the shoe, made for some additional comfort as well as easy on/off access.

Both of these items for scored for under under $50! Frugal and fabulous for the WIN!

Trend Alert: Athleisure

Happy Sunday Divas!

I have a confession; I'm not a big fad of fads and trends. If I like something, I'll grab it. If I don't, I walk past it. Typically I don't get into the latest styles, as they make for loads of unused items in your closet, made for purging. So, I usually find myself turning a blind eye, until I see something I know I can use in a bunch of different ways.

One such trend whose pieces  I know can be dressed up or down, is the althleisure trend sweeping the blogger nations.

For anyone sleeping under a rock, Athleisure is a trend in fashion in which clothing designed for workouts and other athletic activities is worn in other settings, such as at the workplace, at school, or at other casual or social occasions. This means that those Adidas sweatpants, or your favorite hoodie can actually be worn as a chic look to the latest holiday party! Fear not on what not to wear, as this trend puts the "purpose" in re-purposing your clothes.

I took a swing at the athleisure trend with this Gucci inspired leggings I scored from TNicole Boutique. Although workout inspired clothing is typically baggy and less form fitting, these leggings had an awesome stretch, perfect for doubling as yoga, or even running pants.

I paired it with this comfy sweater from Burlington Coat Factor and vibrant red heels, for an ensemble made in Chic and comfy heaven.

What's one of your favorite trends sweeping the blogosphere? Leave a comment or picture below! I love hearing from you!

OOTD: Meet me in Miami

Happy Monday folks! I hope you all had a blessed and productive weekend, doing all of the things you set your hearts out to do in 2017. Personally,I was continuing to live out my dreams in Miami, as I had the honor or representing all of the fabulous curvy/plus girls of Los Angeles in the Miss Fashion Week Universe competition. All of the beautiful contenders (runway, petite, plus, and international) convened in sunny Miami beach to compete for the reigning title as Queen for the year 2018. It was a whirlwind experience to say the least, and although I didn't win, my Quneedom reigns on for the year of 2018. Catch me in LA soon.

Along with the competition this weekend, were many photo opportunities. My sponsor and mangers had us in all of the right locations to slay!

My favorite photoshoot wardrobe item? These "Prissy Pants" I purchased from TNicoleBoutique. These were an awesome combination of business casual and comfort!

There was plenty to do in Miami. With all of the networking, meetings, and traveling, I needed to be cute, comfy, while meaning business. This red pair allowed for the chic vibe I needed, with an awesome stretch in the waist in addition to the gold buttons. The flared legs allowed for the breezy Miami air to vent through.

Paired with this Off-the-shoulder top from Ashley Stewart(currently sold out), I was ready to hit the streets of Miami, destined to make some connections.

OOTD: Girl On Fire

"Life starts all over again when the air is crisp..."

As the leaves start to change, I knew what it was time to do. Break out the reds, oranges, sweaters, and heavier coats. And although I'm not quite ready to use them, that doesn't mean I can't get you guys ready in some kind of way!

My prequel to the fall starts off with this convertible wrap dress I got from my sister in fashion over at Sassie Girl Fashion. I literally felt like a girl on fire! Just LOOK at all of those vibrant colors! I felt like a mix between Carmen in Hip-Hopera and Selena, ready to bust a reggaeton hit or two. As you can see it hugs ALL the right places *a plus girl's favorite thing), and the fabric is still breezy enough if the sun happens to come out (spoiler alert: no sun this day.)

Another bucket list item for a self-proclaimed fashionista? Being able to re-purpose an old outfit. This dress makes that super easy! Although I went with the run of the mill wrap, this dress can be work over 25 different ways! One sleeve, halter, backwards, without sleeves...the possibilities are amazing! It also gives lots of stretch, so it doesn't hug too tight.

This convertible dress is available in a number of prints, and can fit up to a size 16. Head over to Sassiegirlfashion.com for a look at this versatile number, as well as her other awesome pieces for the fall. Happy hunting!

Casual Friday: Lace-Up Sweaters

Happy Friday everyone!

It's been a windy one this week in PA. The leaves are blowing, my hair is flying, and I'm packing on the layers to battle the piercing wind. I needed something cozy, practically impenetrable, and obviously, stylish to get me through Friday.

In comes this  lace up sweater from INC International Concepts. I scored this by way of a free clothing subscription trial through Gwynnie Bee. Staying stylish on a budget is getting easier and easier! Basically, you search through loads of dresses, pants, and sweaters for what you like best, they send it to your house, and you can wear it as often as you like, send it back (or not), and repeat! This trial has been awesome because it's introduced me to a few plus size brands I'm not familiar with. including INC International Concepts, who blessed me with this awesome sweater.

This stretch knit top features a scoop neck, with easy slip on (the lace-up design is just a chic bonus). I've been going crazy about the lace up. crochet features on designs lately, and this one was just up my alley.

For all of my plus size divas, sizes 10-32, be sure to check out Gwynnie Bee for your closet needs. They do not disappoint, and what's better; there's no commitment!

Have a blessed weekend everyone!

Brieana

OOTD: Over-All Chic

Happy Sunday! Today's outfit post if an ode to the comfort of the 90's fashions, with the effortlessness of a flowy dress. This combo was brought to me straight from City Chic. This overall dress (affectionately called the Soft Hunter Dress) was the perfect love child of comfort. class, and a flattering silhouette all in one bundle. I'm excited to wear it again and again just to show you all how versatile one dress can be. I keep it simple this time with a black shirt, but I know the possibilities are endless. This number is super easy to slip on and off, and the silver accents bring it together perfectly!

I paired the dress with this red cheetah print handbag I got from TJ Maxx. If nobody has every told you about their legendary purse section, I'm telling you. They have something for the understated clutch lover all the way to the dramatic tote holder, in all color and textures, and at the right price! This purse was a step down from my typical suitcase-esque purses, but it definitely did the trick, especially when put together with my wine strappy heels from Go Jane.

OOTD: Turtlenecks and Faux Denim

As I continue to embark on this fashion blogging journey, I'm really enjoying getting to know more and more about fabrics. Today, for instance, I had the privilege (yes, it's that serious) of donning these faux denim "slacks" from Target's Merona. They were amazing in the area of comfort. Yes, they LOOK like they're a jeans material, but when I slid them on I was met with a choir of angels as the SUPER soft material wrapped my thighs in a warmth only these material could deliver. To the touch, its almost as soft as cashmere. It pretty wrinkle resistant to (I may have just gotten luck on that front.)

So what is this magic fabric, you ask? It's called Lyocell, Because it is made from a plant material, it is cellulosic and possesses many properties of other cellulose fibers, such as cotton, linen, ramie, and rayon - another manufactured but non-synthetic fiber. In many ways, lyocell is more similar to cotton than it is to rayon.Lyocell is similar to that of Modal, another "wonder fabric" that has all the benefits of natural fibers, leaving you with an incredibly soft texture, similar to that of silk.

These slacks were definitely a challenge to style. Do I dress it up? Do it play it down? Don't worry, you'll definitely see more of these as I try it out. They're too warm and comfy not to.

Casual Friday: Funky Freshed Dressed to Impress

Transparency moment: Sometimes I jack my boyfriend's style habits. We've been together about 4 years and sometimes we dress drastically alike. Its amazing how much women's and men's fashions have crossed over in the past decades. Especially for me, on a casual Friday, when all I want to do is throw on a baseball cap and some sneakers.

I threw a feminine flair on one of my love's favorite outfits to wear; a hat and his favorite Adidas inspired outfit. That will include a tracksuit of some sort and his favorite pair of Adidas classics for the perfect ensemble of tri-lined wear this side of the pond. Those Brits and their "Addis".

Sneakers: Here
It was hard to stay away, but I finally allowed the Adidas bug to bite me and purchased a pair of their classic Adidas Superstars collection. The simple black and white took my back to my Missy Elliott
days, the iconic female rapstress with style to boot. And for those who know me well, you know I cannot resist a pop of gold in my outfits, and these sneakers were definitely after my heart.

I stayed true to my fashionista bones with some girly elements, one being this chic leather cap I got from Charlotte Russe. Paired with my sheer cardigan fro Haute Life Plus, I'm ready to slay the day away....in a pretty funky way *drops mic*
